Controls Engineer
The Role
​
Your primary role will be to design and develop the appropriate control systems required for special purpose automated equipment. This will include:
​

Layout and wiring diagrams to the latest standards
-
Generating an efficient and cost-effective bill of materials required for the application
-
Software writing for PLC and HMI control, or other suitable control system
-
Networking and interfacing with all equipment and customer network where appropriate
-
3rd party equipment set up
-
Commissioning and Testing requirements, for FAT and SAT
-
Customer liaison and support
-
Training requirements and documentation
-
Technical report writing
-
Risk Assessment and technical documentation
-
Off-site commissioning, installation and support

You must be capable of interpreting customer specifications, generating electrical diagrams via E-plan design suite, developing software utilising a variation of PLC/HMI systems and carrying projects through from budget and concept planning to the commissioning phase including workshop testing and customer onsite testing.

Be available to work overtime at short notice (including weekends)

Always demonstrate meeting safety and quality standards

Be capable of working to plan and taking care of personal time management to achieve project milestones

Be able to work to a defined budget, for both labour and hardware restraints
-
Troubleshoot problems with processes and hardware
-
Provide technical assistance as needed by internal staff and customers
-
Manage relationships with supply chain

Have excellent communication skills

Have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
-
Be able to determine customer needs to develop project specifications and scope
-
Be able to interpret and implement specifications

Key Requirements
​
-
2 to 4 years of work experience in a related field
-
Provide functional safety expertise, ensuring all safety related components and circuits comply with to the machining Directive and safety categorisation
-
Automation background essential
-
Qualified to HNC or equivalent
-
Full driving licence
-
Flexible approach to overtime to meet the demands of customer timings
-
Experience in robot programming practices preferred
-
Fully conversant in Microsoft Office
